Jannis Uffrecht (*1991) lives and works in Weimar, Germany. He studied Fine Arts and Design under Björn Dahlem, Florian Schmidt and Hermann Stamm at Bauhaus University and graduated last year with his project Uff+Down following his project UFF!. In 2019 he was an official photographer for Bauhaus 100, the centenary programme of the Bauhaus and its legacy from past to present. In 2018 Uffrecht was selected for the artist residency Studio Vortex by Antoine d'Agata in Arles, France. And in summer 2017, he was granted an exchange to study multimedia art and sculpture at Belas-Artes in Lisbon, Portugal.
»Experience gives way to understanding. The desire to get to the essence of things leads him to elevate objects, surfaces and content to a level free of context, to then release them into new dialogs of interpretation. Impulsiveness is both a contradiction and instrument of his structured, almost manic work method.« — Grenadine Rübler
